Adjunct Professor

29 years of experience with native plant education, restoration and gardening

Craig is renowned for his knowledge of plant-animal interactions and the design of wildlife-attracting landscapes. At the University of Florida, he co-founded the Urban Wildlife Extension Program and established the Florida Backyard Wildlife Habitat Program. He also established the Pinellas County Environmental Lands Division and served as Division Administrator for twelve years.

A much-loved professor and teacher, Craig has authored several popular books promoting the use of Florida native plants, including books on landscaping for wildlife, gardening with wildflowers and using plants in shady gardens. He lectures widely across the state of Florida on the use of native plants in ecologically beneficial, sustainable landscapes. And whether it’s 8:00am or 8:00pm, Craig’s dynamic delivery and entertaining speaking style will keep you alert and inspired.

Craig is passionate about the joy and satisfaction native gardens and landscapes bring to our lives. He has received numerous state and regional awards from public agencies and private conservation groups for his ongoing environmental education, restoration and preservation efforts.

Craig has a B.A. in zoology and M.S. in wildlife ecology from the University of Wisconsin.

He has a Ph.D. in animal ecology from Iowa State University.

Certified Wildlife Biologist with the Wildlife Society.


COMING ATTRACTIONS

Jurassic Park at Moccasin Lake
Saturday February 5
The Safety Harbor Garden Club is teaming up with Moccasin Lake for this one-day event. It will include a variety of fun Jurassic Park themed education & craft stations, snacks, and a movie on the lawn at 6 p.m.
About this Event

The Friends of Moccasin Lake, the Clearwater Library and the City of Clearwater are delighted to host a free community event, Jurassic Park at Moccasin Lake! Day of Raptors! This one-day event will host a variety of fun Jurassic Park themed education & craft stations, snacks, and a movie on the lawn at 6 p.m. Please bring your own lawn chairs.

The Safety Harbor Garden Club will be recognized for its Folly Farm Preserve Beautification and Enhancement Award as well as efforts to add more trees to the Safety Harbor canopy!

Business Updates


FINANCE 
Finance: Current balance     $6,195.00

MEMBERSHIP
There are currently 56 paid members, which includes lifetime members.  
Twenty-six previous members have not renewed.  
At the January luncheon, there were 11 paid renewals and 4 new paid members.

Delinquent members will be notified via e-mail to please bring their membership up to date by making dues payment by March 1.

After March 1 anyone who has not paid their annual dues will be dropped from the active roles and not be eligible to participate in club activities.
