Hello, Gardeners!

Welcome to the Safety Harbor Garden Club News! 

This blog is an effort to keep everyone up-to-date and informed on the events and activities related to the Safety Harbor Garden Club (SHGC).

Our monthly meetings are the 3rd Wednesday of the month and begin at 9:30 am unless otherwise stated.

Short Membership Meeting at 10:00 outdoors 

Presentation of slate of officers for 2021

Opportunity to pay your dues $10

Plant Swap - bring a healthy potted plant with plant id 

and enter the plant swap! (check in with Lee Sisco). 

Garden tours - check out the Wind Garden, Butterfly Labyrinth and other gardens (hosted by our Folly Farmers).

Short membership meeting at 10:00  

Election of officers.

Followed by our “Partners in Planting”, Mullet gardens beautification fun with the City.

The City and our own garden club nurseries at Folly Farm and

Sandy Huff’s Farm are contributing plants.

There will be a make-over of our garden square area and

three other beds. Everyone will have a chance to pitch in.

“Light duty” gardeners will be painting plant id rocks and other

 gardening tasks not requiring lifting or strenuous  activity.

Spring Plant Sale at Folly Farm

***Sunday 4/25/2021***

Our plant sale will happen during the "Enchanted Garden

Fest". There will be a mystical marketplace, art vendors, 

music and more! Come dressed as an enchanted character

and be entered into a costume contest!

Folly Farm VIVA Garden Planting

Wednesday May 19   

On to the second phase of our VIVA grant agreement. 

It seems like ages ago when we planted the “Wind” native

flower garden at Folly Farms (June 2020). 

Thanks to our volunteers that day and the ongoing efforts

 of our garden club “Folly Farmers” the wind garden

 is  thriving. Hundreds of Spring seedlings of all description

are already popping up in the garden.

The second phase consists of the planting of three more

garden areas with native flowering bushes, small trees, and

flowers. We will also incorporate a rain garden in an area

near the Gazebo.

The garden club is prepared to spend $1500 on plants and

materials.

Leslie is our garden manager for the project.

Refreshments will be served.
